Gravity has recently unveiled the renewed version
of Ragnarok Online
2 – Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second. In comparison with
the old version, many modifications have been made in the renewed one.
Especially, weapon leveling system and multi-class system has been
announced failed and will be abandoned. Check below (Source: Thisisgame.com):
New systems abandoned, back to the familiar ones
Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second abandons Ragnarok Online 2's
core systems: weapon leveling system and multi-class system.
Different from the mainstream MMORPGs in the current market,
Ragnarok Online 2 allows players to have their weapons upgrade
continuously. The weapons can be changed to something like guns or
wands, and can get more powerful as they upgrade.



Features of Ragnarok Online 2:
multi-class system and weapon leveling system

The weapon leveling concept is surely a good idea, but some players
think that since the weapons just level up as their characters level
up, they can't feel the differences between weapons, and thus feel
bored for the failure to enjoy the fun of new weapons. In Ragnarok
Online 2, one character can work for more than one class, but most
skills cannot satisfy players in this respect, which makes the balance
between classes unable to be reached.
In Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second, the above two systems
are deleted, which actually means the developer has admitted their new
attempt's failure. And the two systems are just replaced by the common
weapon exchange and job transfer systems respectively.



Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second
inherits and makes improvements in the systems featured in the prequel.



The bond between Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second
and Ragnarok Online is strengthened.

With Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second updated and its bond
with Ragnarok Online strengthened, Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the
Second presents itself as the real sequel to Ragnarok Online.
Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second totally inherits the classes
in the prequel. It allows players to choose between Swordsman, Rogue,
Magician, Summoner and Archer etc., and players can transfer their jobs
twice as is the case with the prequel.
Modifications are also made in the names of the in-game areas and
monsters, so as to make Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second bounded
up with the prequel more closely. According to Gravity, digging out
the difference between the sequel and prequel can also be regarded as
part of the gaming fun.



Classes in Ragnarok Online make their
perfect appearance again.

Ragnarok Online's two most important systems - card system and pet
system will be further improved in Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the
Second. With the weapon leveling system deleted, the customization
systems for weapons and armor sets will become more powerful by means
of the cards and pets.
Meanwhile, the whisper and guild chat features unavailable
previously will be greatly improved based on the prequel, and guardian
beasts will also be supported in the instances and guilds. The
“Coloration System”, only open to the high-level players in the prequel,
will be made open to all players regardless of the level.
Servers of Ragnarok Online 2 will be closed on August 2, and its
registered users will be able to claim special IDs and obtain special
weapons in Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second when the time comes.
Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second is set to launch its first
closed beta test on August 31.

thats good to hear.
I liked Ragnarok theme etc. But i had heard alot of bad things about the new system, good thats it being scrapped and redone.

Wouldn't mind playing it if FFXIV wasn't so close

Last July 1, 2010,
Gravity Corp. announce that the current Ragnarok Online 2
server: The Gate of the World will be shut down on August 2, 2010 to
give way for the (CBT)Close Beta Test of the new Ragnarok Online 2
server: Legend of the Second that will begin on August 31, 2010.
All former beta players who played the old server "The Gate of the
World" will have a chance to request for a compensation for being loyal
to the game. Every requests allows them to get 1000 RO worth of in-game
cash, automatically enrolled to the new Ragnarok 2 – Closed Beta Test
and a special themed outlook that will be given on the day of the server
testing.

Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second is a respective sequel
opening up to a new world of Ragnarok, following up on Ragnarok Online,
its prequel that shows off more than seven hundred thousand players.
After Gravity Corp. announce last July 2010 that the first version of
Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the World (Epic of the Light) have been
scrapped and have reworked multiple times due to its poor initial
reception. The company decided to return to the system and mechanics of
the original Ragnarok Online while keeping the 3D Engine. After renaming
the original title "Gate of the World" to "Legend of the Second," they
also changed the look of their characters from the original chibi-style
to a more serious and mature feel. Everything has been overhauled and
that means they have gone back to the basics. Profusion of story is
brought by linkage to the world of Ragnarok Online, and by implementing
complaints/suggestions from Ragnarok Online 2; a completely new
enjoyment will be provided not just a different game but also a true
sequel of Ragnarok 1.


Overview:
Everything is been overhauled on remaking the new server and that
means back to the basics. They scrapped the new system, character weapon
leveling, new classes and skills, the stats, and the two new races:
Ellr and Dimago.
Some of the original games feature will return and that will be the
card system (equipment stats), the newly formed pet system (control your
pets), old monsters with a much better 3D designs and Kafra will return
too. They have also added some new contents such as a more balanced
pvp/duel system, living system, weaving and even more exciting
adventures. Old classes such as Swordsman, Mage, Archer, Thief and
Acolyte (with their subclass) and a new batch classes: Tailor,
Blacksmith, Doctor, and Chef (the Merchant has been replaced with the
subclasses containing collecting skills such as leather, food, etc).


Gameplay:
Meet the new and exuberant Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second
through the succession of positives from Ragnarok Online, and
improvements from complaints of Ragnarok Online 2: The Gate of the
World.
Extension of the world of Ragnarok Online
Keeping fantasy as a central idea, the world of Ragnarok Online's
approach towards adventure and story development has been extended. You
will be able to enjoy the feel of connection to Ragnarok Online during
play.



Succession of Ragnarok Online's card/pet system
he card and pet system which held high importance in Ragnarok Online
has been carried over and improved, as Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the
Second's own unique inheritance.


Succession of Ragnarok Online's job system and introduction
of lifestyle jobs

Through extending jobs by succeeding Ragnarok Online's job system, it
has been done to allow the more experienced players to enjoy
subdivision of game knowledge.


Also by introducing lifestyle jobs, the choice between those that
have skills centered for battle, and those that have skills related to
lifestyle, will allow the experience of dynamically structured play.
Emotion system advancement
Emotions that can be expressed through various character gestures.
RO1's speech bubble has been carried over to allow character's emotions
to be communicated most intuitively even in a 3D environment.


More unique characters
There will be a lot of headgear that you can wear. You can change the
color of your armor and its pattern with the Tailor subclass. A more
challenging character awaits us than the previous server.

Ragnarok Online 2 (RO2), which just returned after being re-developed, is trapped in big operational trouble again because of the frequent server crashes in its recent first closed beta test. During the three days of test from August 3, numerous big and small bugs, frequent connection failures, even the failure to offer a smooth gaming environment in the final night deeply disappointed the enthusiastic gamers, and made gamers complain bitterly on the internet.

The revised RO2 does look more charming and delicate, but the server stability is still not improved.
5,000 new members were recruited and 100 test accounts were given out through Twitter in RO2's 1st CBT. Plus the 15,000 old members who applied for participation in the test, RO's1st CBT attracted more than 20,000 testers in total. However, about 20,000 complaints concerning the connection failures have been made on the game's official site till now, which obviously shows that the test is extremely unsatisfactory.



Despite repeated server crashes and disconnections, gamers still took the time to post the testing results.
As Gravity emphasized, the main goal of the test is to "test the server stability", so a server capable of 5,000 gamers was prepared. So far, Gravity has mobilized all staff to solve the problem, and it also feels very sorry for the failure to provide a smooth gaming environment. With view to all these, Gravity has decided to extend the test to September 3, and bring players abundant things as compensation.

Ragnarok Online 2 has added sci-fi medieval villages, the forest of
elves, scorching deserts, oriental-style villages and so on.
Additionally, this game added a special version, where players can
throw themselves into a more fantastic world than the original comics'.

1. More Beautiful Characters

As many players put forward a lot of suggestions after participating
in the first CBT, the developers actively referred to those
suggestions and particularly perfected the character design based on
relevant proposals.













2. UI Design

The development team not only changed the style of the UI system, but also enhanced some functions.










3. Lifestyle Classes

Two of the four lifestyle classes unveiled in the first CBT were
redesigned. The former doctor who used to make various healing potions
was changed into an alchemist. In this way, he can refine and process
all sorts of medicament, apart from potions. The former tailor was
turned into an artisan, who is able to make clothes as well as
ornaments, leather armor, bows and arrows, bullets, and other items.

4. Diversified Skills and Talents

In the upcoming test, players can learn and use enhanced skills by use of talent points.
Furthermore, each class' skills were updated greatly, including AOE
skills, exclusive skills, protective skills and more brand new skills.

5. New Interesting Quests

A large number of whole new quests were added to the game this time,
such as time quests that require players to complete within a given
time, reading quests, and optional dialogue quests in which players
should talk to NPCs.

6. Abundant Materials

Players can harvest rich materials and collect items while hunting.
Therefore, players can make various items in the game, if only they
get corresponding materials and ask alchemists, artisans, chefs or
blacksmiths to help manufacture items. Surely, they can also purchase
such items.

7. Seven New Types of Mounts

A variety of mounts have been added in the upcoming test version.

1. Fly System

A brand new fly system has been added to the game. "Selene" near the
Warehouse NPC between villages is in charge of flying transportation.
After talking to Selene, players can fly to the destination by riding
on a magic broom.




2. Card System

As long as players attack monsters, they can obtain bronze cards, silver cards and gold cards.
Those cards have different ranks. Higher-rank cards are less likely
to be acquired. Actually, advanced cards can augment the character's
comprehensive abilities.
In the beginning, players can equip only one card, but they are
allowed to equip up to 5 cards with the advancement of their
characters.








3. Guardian Mode

Players can engage in multiple combats through the Guardian Mode. In
the initial gaming period, guardian energy can be generated
automatically. Once the energy is full, players can summon the
guardian. There are four types of guardians.

4. Carlo System

"Carlo" means characters' potential capacity. The Carlo system can
reward quest finishers with titles to promote their reputation.



Players can gain corresponding titles and various useful attribute values after completing Carlo quests.

5. New Dungeons

The game has introduced two completely new dungeons, "Werewolf Den" and "Barnohin" in the southern plain.

6. Auction House and Guild System

In addition to the above content, the auction house and guild system
have also been integrated into the game. Players can sell and bid for
items in the auction house, and moreover, found new guilds and manage

the new improvement shown in latest close beta version seems to be very good.might be better then lime afterall with r2 improved graphics and features heh
